The Sport and Activities program at Canterbury College is extensive, fostering opportunities for students in Prep through to Year 12. Canterbury competes in The Associated Schools (TAS) competition, as well as excels across various other leading Netball programs and events throughout the year.
The College is currently seeking a Head Netball Coach to contribute to the school’s exceptional award-winning netball program. Canterbury is currently QISSN Champions 2022-2024, Vicki Wilson Cup Champions 2023, Vicki Wilson Shield Bronze Medal 2023, 1st VII Netball and 10A TAS Champions for 2024 and Queensland Netball Awards 2024 - School of the Year.
Due to the size, profile and success of our Netball program, we currently have several opportunities available for coaches with varying levels of experience and qualifications. As the Head Coach you will work with our Director of Netball and be responsible for delivering coaching sessions that provide a safe environment for athletes and assist them to develop skills, tactical awareness, teamwork and enjoyment of the sport.
Year 7 - 12 TAS Netball Teams will commence preseason training in Term 1, 2025 which will continue into Term 2 of 2025. All teams will train twice a week (mostly afternoons) with TAS competition games taking place on Saturdays in Term 2 at various locations.
**Responsibilities Include**:
- Lead tactical and strategic game planning, overseeing pre-game and in-game coaching.
- In collaboration with the Director of Netball, implement a comprehensive training program focused on technical and tactical development, team dynamics, and competitive play.
- Collaborate with assistant coaches, trainers, and administrative staff to ensure seamless program delivery and operations.
- Assess player technical and tactical performance, providing constructive feedback to drive individual and team improvement.
- Monitor player attendance, fitness, and performance to support a balanced approach to education and sports.
- Work alongside the Director of Netball to plan and organise non-TAS tournament preparation.
- Ensure the program aligns with College values by fostering a culture that promotes personal growth, values-alignment, and competitive achievement as well as an enjoyment for the sport.
- Mentor athletes on and off the court, fostering a supportive and inclusive team environment.
- Act as an ambassador within the College and local community, actively encouraging participation in the program.
- Establish and attend training days - twice per week, as well as attend game days on Saturdays.
**Qualifications and experience**
- Demonstrated experience coaching girls from beginner to elite level
- Coaching and/or refereeing accreditation (desirable)
- Ability to acquire and maintain a Positive Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or current Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) Registration
**Teachers or non-teachers with a specialist coaching background will be considered.** **Pay rates vary according to experience, qualifications and coaching responsibilities.**
