Principal Information Security Officer

The Principal Information Security Officer has the following key duties and responsibilities:

- Provide technical expertise and advice to facilitate the design, review, development and documentation of departmental ISMS policies, standards, procedures and guidelines to comply with Queensland Government guidelines and meet industry best practice such as ISO/IEC 27001 and ASD standards.
- Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders including but not limited to Information Privacy, Ethical Standards and QGCDG to ensure that the departments policies, procedures, and practices applied are aligned with government and other relevant standards and compliance obligations.
- Perform gap analysis, monitoring and reporting to improve the information security maturity level of the department's ICT network, business information systems and ICT assets.
- Proactively identify risks, implement processes and solutions to reduce the occurrence of information security incidents and lead investigations into security breaches including recommendations for appropriate control improvements.
- Review and contribute to ICT projects, technical designs and architectures to verify and improve Information Security controls relevant to both project and operational scopes.
- Participate in the change management process, evaluate technical changes and provide recommendations to ensure information security controls are considered for all changes.
- Develop, manage, and maintain information security work procedures and instructions to ensure cohesive work practices are undertaken within the information security team.
