**About the Role**

Reporting to the Safety Leader ANZ, you will play an essential role within our People Experience (PEX) team helping us to create and maintain safe working environments across the group. This is a critical role to meet our legal safety obligations in the area of Dangerous Goods/Hazardous Substances (DGHS) by developing, implementing and reviewing initiatives, policies, procedures and training that minimise risks for our people across the organisation. As a Safety expert you will provide advice on safety and risk matters and help us continue to drive improvements in knowledge and capability across the business.

The position is initially a 6 month fixed term contract opportunity.

Responsibilities include (and are not limited to):

- Review and develop DGHS policies, procedures and processes to ensure compliance with Regulations, alongside Chain of Responsibility requirements.
- Deliver expert DGHS technical advice to internal/external stakeholders, providing practical guidance on compliance and the technical interpretation of legislation.
- Lead and co-ordinate response to safety incidents including high-level investigations to determine root cause, corrective actions and learnings to mitigate recurrence.
- Conduct general safety risk assessments, safety inspections and develop Safe Work Instructions of SOPs as required.

**About you**
- You’ll have a comprehensive understanding of storage, handling, transport and labelling requirements related to DGHS, along with a thorough understanding of Dangerous Goods Act and regulations
- You have experience working in a safety or improvement role in a chemical warehouse or transport business
- Ability to communicate and relate to all levels of the business and network
- Negotiation and influencing skills
- Cert IV in OHS (minimum)
