**Department**

The Clinical Genetics and Genomics Service (CGGS) at Alfred Hospital is a diagnostic and predictive health service for adults who have a known or suspected inherited condition and/or have a family history of an inherited genetic condition. Patients are referred from other specialist clinicians and general practitioners. The service coordinates non-admitted outpatients clinics that are co-located with other speciality clinics across Alfred Health campuses.

**About This Role**

This position reports to the Manager of the CGGS. The clinical intake assistant will effectively and efficiently perform a range of tasks to support and assist the day to day function of the service and clinics. The role is responsible for ensuring that the service provides best customer outcomes and meets both internal and external, including government, reporting requirements. Responsibilities include assisting the CGGS clinical team by contacting patients and health services to gather necessary medical and family history information to assist in providing a genetics assessment, assist in clinic preparation and appointment scheduling and data entry.

**_Essential:_**
- Current student of a Master of Genetic Counselling course
- Excellent interpersonal, problem solving and organisational skills.
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team as well as autonomously
- Patient focussed, compassionate attitude
- Confident, innovative and resourceful approach to work

**_ Desirable:_**
- Understanding of confidentiality and privacy legislation
- Effective computer literacy skills and experience in database software (e.g. Cerner Programs, Trakgene)
