**About the role**:
As the Laboratory Analysis Supervisor, you will manage the daily operations of the laboratory testing area within the agricultural laboratory. In this hands on role, visible people leadership role you will train and support laboratory staff to analyse samples safely, accurately and efficiently. You will also lead the recruitment of your team, including high numbers of temporary staff for peak testing periods.

**Key responsibilities will include**:

- Overseeing day-to-day laboratory staff to ensure safe and efficient sample analysis and result reporting.
- Maintaining safe operations at all times by reviewing and updating safety controls, identifying hazards, and focusing on continuous improvement.
- Determining staffing requirements and leading recruitment activities
- Ensure competency of all staff performing laboratory activities including reviewing and building training materials and maintaining training records
- Provide counsel and support to employees facing challenges during daily operations
- Assist in maintaining and improving laboratory methods and operational efficiency.
- Maximize equipment utilization to meet seasonal demand and assist with commissioning new equipment.
- Promote a customer-centric, high-performing culture within the laboratory.
- Engage with employees to understand their motivations and align them with team goals.
- Management and ordering of laboratory consumables.

**Skills and experience you will have**:

- A degree in Chemistry or a related field is highly advantageous
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a laboratory environment
- Proven ability to lead and manage a team, with strong people management skills including performance evaluation, conflict resolution, and team motivation
- Working knowledge of chemical and workplace safety
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with both internal and external stakeholders
- Proficiency in using laboratory information management systems (LIMS), Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant software
