**About the Role**:
The Ecologist, Threatened Species Assessments provides applied ecological, technical, policy and project support to the Threatened Species and Ecological Communities Team, with a primary focus on species assessment and listing matters. The Ecologist is responsible for sourcing, analysing and preparing information relating to the status, ecology, threats and management of threatened species and ecological communities. The incumbent will also support and develop processes, procedures, conservation strategies, briefings, project plans, policy advice, stakeholder engagement, and communications materials. They will develop and maintain strong networks with a diverse range of stakeholders to facilitate quality information sharing and improved outcomes. The role is also responsible for supporting priority Branch and unit projects.

**Contract**:
Contract for up to 31 December 2026.
**Essential Qualifications**:
- Degree in the field of ecology, biodiversity management, natural resource management (or related field) is essential.
**Special Conditions**:
- May be required to participate in fire management or associated duties.
- A current class “C" driver's licence, and willingness to drive, is essential.
- Inter and intrastate and remote area travel may be required, including travel in light aircraft.
- May be required to work outside of the normal hours of duty with occasional overnight absences.
**Remuneration**:
PO2 $88,255 min - $97,667 max p.a.
