Principal Assessment Officer

The Principal Assessment Officer coordinates the risk assessment, triage and assessment of complaints and other matters to ensure the activities of the Assessment team are conducted in compliance with the Office of the Health Ombudsman's (OHO) policies, procedures and legislative requirements as set out in the Health Ombudsman Act 2013. The role is also responsible for the management of matters referred from assessment to other entities, including reviewing the reports received at the finalisation of the referral to ensure the matter has been appropriately addressed.
The role maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders, including health service providers, the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahrpa and other key government entities such as Hospital and Health Services, the Queensland Police Service, Medicines Compliance, Office of the Queensland Ombudsman and/or the Crime and Corruption Commission.
The role is also responsible for team support, mentoring and coaching and driving quality assurance accountabilities in conjunction with the Senior Assessment Officer and the Director, Assessment and Resolution
