As a Sterilisation Technician, you will be required to maintain the integrity, care and handling of all surgical instruments, sterile stock, linen, supplies and equipment in line with competencies.

The Position- Maintains the integrity, care and handling of all surgical instruments, sterile stock, linen, supplies and equipment in line with competencies.- Demonstrates knowledge of AS/NZS 4187 document.- Initiates and maintains effective communication lines and teamwork/collaboration within the Operating Suite, CSD and the Hospital generally.- Maintains a safe clean environment using only authorised cleaning products and adhering to the principles of Infection Control.- Manages time and resources effectively.- Promotes a customer focused culture in the organisation.- Participates in Resource Roles within the unit.- Rotates through to Operating Suite as required.- Ensures efficient use and maintenance of equipment and material resources in department and related areas.- Ensures inventory control of CSSD processed items is performed as per policy statement.- Checks relevant inventory to ensure adequate supplies are ordered, prepared and ready for use.- Monitors the use of storage areas in the department and related areas.- Tests and cleans all sterilisers on a daily and weekly basis as per policy statement.- Performs sterilisation duties as required.- Ensures accurate records are maintained.- Acts as a technical resource for CSSD staff and other departments, providing appropriate support and advice ensuring safe standards are maintained.- Assists Supervisor with annual competency validation and training of CSSD staff.- Remains conversant with relevant technology and disseminates information to colleagues.- Assumes responsibility of specific projects as required- All other reasonable duties as directed by Manager/Supervisor.

You will have excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with the ability to coordinate, liaise and work collaboratively with colleagues and other multidisciplinary team members. In addition, you will be able to effectively manage your time and prioritise workloads.

To succeed as a Sterilisation Technician, you will hold a Certificate in Sterilisation at AQF3 or equivalent and hold previous relevant experience with the ability to teach within CSSD and related areas. An understanding of, and commitment to, quality improvement and current membership with SRACA will be highly regarded.
