**About the role**

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Parks & Recreation Planner to join our team at Woollahra Council.

As the Parks & Recreation Planner, you will play a pivotal role in the delivery of Plans of Management & Masterplans for Council's open spaces. You will research, investigate and develop long term plans to ensure we continue to provide a wide range of high quality, attractive and safe public recreation spaces that meet the needs of our diverse community. Your proven ability to develop strategic plans and your ability to consult with the community and form productive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders will ensure you succeed in this critical role.

In return, you will join a close knit-team of professionals based at Council Chambers, opposite the iconic Redleaf Beach in Double Bay. This position is offered as a temporary full-time role up to 12 months, with the possibility for extension.

**Essential Criteria**
- Tertiary qualifications in recreation and open space planning, landscape architecture, parks management or a related field
- Experience and knowledge relating to the management of public spaces
- Demonstrated well developed report writing, communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to carry out preparation of strategic plans and documents independently and within a team environment
- Demonstrated customer service skills
- Higher level computer literacy
- Proven performance and ability to achieve objectives and meet project targets
- Current Class C Driver’s Licence

**Desirable Criteria**
- Experience in Local Government or similar environment
- Skills and experience in conflict resolution / community consultation
- Understanding of relevant sections of the NSW Local Government Act, Crown Lands Management Act and Native Title Act
- Understanding of information management systems such as HPE Content Manager
- Experience with the use of graphic design presentation software such as InDesign or similar
