Brisbane, Australia Public Trust Office Full time

The Public Trustee has a permanent and temporary opportunity available for a Disability Support Officer. This is a unique consultancy role that provides information and recommendations to ensure appropriate financial decisions are made on behalf of our customers in relation to disability matters. This includes advice on financial decisions related to medical and allied health care needs, accommodation, complex case management, equipment provision, home and vehicle modifications and provision of care. You will have the opportunity to make decisions based on our customers individual disability related needs to assist in the core business of the Public Trust Office.
Mandatory requirements
- A degree in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy or agreed equivalent with current AHPRA Registration
- Possession of a current 'C' class drivers licence

Highly Desirable Requirements
- Clinical experience in assessing and analysing situations/problems of people with Acquired Brain Injury, Psychiatric, age related dementia's and Intellectual Disabilities, including determining the needs for assistive devices, housing modifications, vehicle modifications, care plans and case management of complex disability needs and a capacity to write medico/legal reports.
- Possess an in depth knowledge of Disability, Ageing and Health Sector Funding including Queensland Department of Communities - Disability Services, Department of Housing, Department of Health and Australian Government Department of Health and Department of Social Services, National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and eligibility criteria for access to disability services and funding.

- Application of clinical knowledge and skills individual needs on financial administration. to review customer's disability related needs and provide recommendations regarding impact of This will include working collaboratively with the customer and their family/guardian, government and non-government agencies and Public Trustee of Queensland staff, identify broader influence that may impact on customer's finances and offer strategic advice to achieve best financial outcome.
- Provision of advice to Public Trustee of Queensland Managers and Directors to assist with strategic goals of organisation and agency policy, procedure and new initiatives
- Collaborate and consult with Managers and line supervisors of Public Trustee of Queensland, to negotiate responsibility for work outcomes and delegate tasks to appropriate Public Trust Officers.
- Preparation of comprehensive clinical reports to the Office of the Official Solicitor to assist with the management of legal matters on our customers behalf.
- Provision of written and verbal advice and recommendations to Public Trustee of Queensland staff based on clinical expertise and knowledge to assist with responsible administration of customer's funds.
