**Role**:
**Applied Learning and Vocational Education Learning Specialist**:
The Applied Learning and Vocational Education Learning Specialist at the College reports directly to the Teaching and Learning Assistant Principal. The role also includes collaboration with leadership colleagues as part of the Professional Learning Leadership Team (PLLT) to implement professional learning related to applied teaching and learning. The role also includes collaboration with other members of the leadership team to design and implement processes to enhance student engagement and achievement.

**Responsibilities**:
**Core Responsibilities**:

- Work with the PCO team to develop an annual action plan in alignment with the responsibilities of the role, College Strategic and Annual Implementation plan.
- Lead VCE Vocational Major curriculum and program development in alignment with the College learning and curriculum design principles, the Gradual Release of Responsibility instructional model and principles of applied learning.
- Liaise and collaborate with Curriculum Learning Specialists, Year Level Leaders and the Engagement Curriculum Leader to develop and incorporate Applied Learning in the Year 9 Connect Program and Year 10 curriculum.
- Development and implementation of innovative assessment practices relevant to the VCE Vocational Major and Vocational Education and Training certificates.
- Work with the Professional Learning Leadership Team (PLLT) to organise and lead the implementation professional learning across the school related to applied learning.
- Development of professional learning resources to support teaching staff.
- Share relevant resources and practices in alignment with the College vision and values with the community via hard copy and online publications.
- Other duties as directed by the principal.

In addition to core responsibilities, the leader also works as part of the Professional Learning Leadership team (PLLT)

**Professional Learning Leadership Team (PLLT)**

The PLLT leadership roles encompass a range of whole school teaching and learning priorities and responsibilities. The work of these leaders is guided by the College learning and curriculum design principles, Gradual Release of Responsibility instructional model, School Wide Positive Behaviour Support framework and overarching College Strategic and Annual Implementation plans. Leaders working in these roles are responsible for improving student engagement and outcomes and building teacher capacity in the following areas:

- Literacy and Numeracy Intervention strategies for improved student outcomes
- Assessment strategies and reporting protocols to enhance student feedback
- Understanding and responding to student learning and achievement data
- Employing engaging and suitable eLearning pedagogy
- Application of applied learning in teaching and learning programs.

The team works under the direction of the Principal and Assistant Principal for teaching and learning and is responsible for the design, implementation and ongoing improvement in curriculum design and documentation, professional learning, coaching and supportive practices and processes, incorporating:

- Whole school curriculum documentation auditing and improvement strategies
- Whole school professional learning programs and schedule of events
- The provision of team based and individual professional learning
- Staff Performance and Development Plans
- Staff coaching
- Classroom observation
