**Salary**: $92,332 - $104,762

The Parliamentary Budget Office (PBO) is an independent office of the Victorian Parliament. We support members of parliament to inform policy development and debate in parliament and the Victorian community. To do this, we provide ongoing independent, authoritative and timely research and analysis services across a wide range of topics.

**About us**

The Victorian Parliamentary Budget Office (PBO) supports members of parliament to inform policy development and debate in parliament and the Victorian community. To do this, we provide independent, authoritative, and timely research and analysis services across a wide range of topics.

Our team is crucial to the quality of our services and engagement with our client base. To deliver across the breadth of requests for our work, we require a diverse mix of experience and expertise, and proactive leadership.
We provide client services to members of parliament on request, including:

- Policy costings - an assessment of the budget impact of a policy
- Advice - a report on a topic with an economic, fiscal or financial impact on the state of Victoria
- Parliamentary inquiry submissions - a report providing information to be used in a committee inquiry or to provide committee members with important context.

Working at the PBO provides a unique opportunity to support the Parliament of Victoria and policy development by parties across the Parliament. When Victorian MPs publicly release our products, you may see the impact of your analysis and research on policy development, and parliamentary and public debate. More than any other office supporting Victorian MPs, working at the PBO will give you exposure to policies from across all functions of government and the political spectrum.

**The roles**

Analysts and researchers support Senior Analysts and the Manager of Policy Analysis and Advice, and are a key driver of the PBO's client work.

To deliver our services to Members of Parliament, we need people who have experience and expertise in:

- research (including qualitative, economic, social or policy research)
- policy assessment
- economic modelling
- government budget analysis
- quantitative analysis

**Not sure you meet all the selection criteria?**

**Conditions of employment**

We highly value our reputation for independence and seek to build it over time. It is essential to client engagement, how our work is received and to improving public transparency. Applicants must disclose any affiliations or memberships that could be seen as a conflict of interest in their cover letter.

To be considered for ongoing roles you must:

- be an Australian Permanent Resident or an Australia/New Zealand citizen
- not have received a Voluntary Departure Package from the VPS in the last 3 years.

Applicants with a current visa allowing you to undertake paid employment in Australia may be considered for fixed term roles.

**How to apply**

Please provide a resume (maximum 2 pages) and a cover letter (maximum 1 page).
