**Oyster farm deck hand**

Little Swanport Oysters Pty Ltd are seeking an Oyster deck hand to join our small team based in Little Swanport on Tasmania’s East Coast.

The position available can be physically demanding and will require working outdoors on vessel, and in the water in all types of weather and temperature extremes. Wearing wet suits in the water in all seasons is required. The successful applicant will need to demonstrate an ability to concentrate for extended periods during oyster harvest, gauging and counting. Must be highly motivated.

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate a keen and enthusiastic attitude.

Tasks to be undertaken include,
- handling ropes and wires, and operating mooring equipment when berthing and unberthing
- standing lookout watches at sea.
- assisting with oyster operations using on-board equipment and stowing and securing the harvest.
- performing routine maintenance and checks on deck equipment, gear, rigging, and lifesaving and firefighting appliances.
- attaching gear and fastening towing cables to nets and lines
- casting and lowering baskets, lines and gear into the water
- preparing lines, attaching running gear, and setting lines into position
- hauling in fishing gear and removing fish and other marine life
- sorting, cleaning, preserving, stowing and refrigerating catch

You will need to sit a medical and pass a drug and alcohol screening prior to the commencement of employment.

Salary range $48,622 - $65,835

Essential requirements below
- Current first aid certificate, valid HLTAID011
- STCW95 deck hand
