We operate about 100 medical laboratories and 2,000 patient collection centres across metropolitan, regional and remote Australia. Each year, we provide one in every three pathology services in Australia, extending from exclusively servicing some of Australia’s largest and most complex private and public hospitals to small and remote Australian Aboriginal communities.**About the role**
- We are seeking an individual who is highly motivated to become part of a passionate and engaged team. Your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Preparation and proactive management of the annual operating plan and financial budgets for the department Monitor and report on monthly financial results
- Prepare, submit for approval and implement a detailed annual business plan for the department
- Manage employee work performance in the department. Identify and manage poor performing employees and take appropriate action to rectify the issue
- Implementing and complying with all aspects of the WHS Plan Demonstrating a visible and proactive commitment to Workplace Health and Safety Management. Identify, assess and control workplace hazards and risks
- Ensure all work practices and procedures comply with NATA/TGA/NPACC regulations
- Stay abreast of market developments in equipment as well as scientific literature and communicate significant findings

**About you**
- To be considered for this position, you will need to have a great blend of skills, including:
- Suitable tertiary qualification in Science, biomedical science preferred
- At least 6 years of experience in a highly automated laboratory
- Experience working with multiple instrument platforms
- Sound experience with laboratory based analytical tasks, method validation and verification, as well as clinical result validation and interpretation
- Knowledge of current Australian standards relating to NPAAC, NATA and TGA
- Sound experience with routine internal quality control and external quality assurance procedures
- Solid grounding in pathology-based IT and quality systems
- Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to travel interstate
