We are seeking a **Senior Scientist** specialising in **Water Quality** or **Freshwater Ecology** to join our dynamic team based in Brisbane and involved in performing complex scientific and technical tasks while collaborating with other leaders to enhance knowledge and drive the business forward. This position requires overseeing projects, ensuring successful outcomes, and upholding our reputation for top-quality work focused on customer satisfaction. You will handle various scientific assignments that span different fields like aquatic ecology, coastal processes, and the chemistry of waters and sediments.

**In this role you will be able to**:

- Undertake advanced scientific and technical tasks independently, demonstrating originality, ingenuity, and judgement.
- Provide technical advice to management, directing equipment/material use and contributing insights in management meetings.
- Monitor and report on designated performance indicators, maintaining compliance with budget and business targets.
- Supervise and review the work of engineers, scientists, and technicians in the water quality domain.
- Act as a mentor, sharing knowledge and expertise across the business, ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and environmental standards.
- Manage projects, ensuring adherence to scope, timelines, cost, and quality requirements as a Project Manager/Director.
- Engage in thought leadership activities, contributing through work, papers, and presentations at events and conferences.
- Liaise with clients for service delivery, networking, and business development purposes.

***Relevant Education, Experience, and Skills**:
**Essential**:

- Bachelor's degree in freshwater ecology or water quality related sciences/engineering.
- At least 7 years of relevant experience after graduation.
- Proficient in both written and verbal communication.
- Practical experience in any of the following:

- Sampling and analysis of freshwater fish and macroinvertebrate communities.
- Setup, maintenance, and deployment of water quality instruments and real-time monitoring systems.
- Evaluation of dredge plumes, wastewater discharges, and stormwater, including management assessments.
- Assessment of lake processes and sediment quality.
- Possession of a valid manual driver’s license.

**Desirable**:

- Senior Backpack Electrofisher
- Expertise in surface water quality modelling.
- Experience in multi-site organizational settings.
- Willingness to travel for field campaigns in remote or offshore areas.
- Background in scientific, engineering, or resources sectors.
- AMSA Coxswain Grade 3 or Exemption 38 certification.
