**Position Information**:
Hunter Sports High School is a partially selective public high school with 900 students. The school is one of the newest and most modern schools in the state, offering a unique state-of-the-art learning environment that caters for both academic and sporting excellence.
As a member of the Waiyarang Community of Schools, we welcome students from local schools including Windale, Wiripaang and Mt Hutton Public Schools. The school enjoys a strong reputation for providing a supportive environment for the 21% Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander student population. We enjoy a close partnership with the local Minimbah Aboriginal Educational Group which has enhanced our inclusive programs in Aboriginal culture.
We also cater for students from around the Hunter and Central Coast regions who come to Hunter Sports High School to participate in our Talented Sports Program. Our school also caters for students with special needs with four dedicated Support Unit classes which includes IO, AU, IM and ED. The school is committed to the pursuit of innovative teaching and learning practice as evidenced by the “Big Picture” program. The school is recognised for providing multiple pathways for students including a very strong focus on vocational education. The school enjoys significant partnerships with local community and business groups which support school operations and enhance student opportunities.
**Selection Criteria**:
- Approval to teach Japanese years 7-12
- Highly developed interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability in building a culture of high expectations and strong relationships with staff, students, parents, and the wider community to support student outcomes.
- Demonstrated capacity and commitment to developing innovative, engaging teaching programs and assessments to meet the individual needs of a diverse student body.
- Proven capacity to integrate project-based learning, technology, and ICT to create a dynamic language curriculum.
