Salary : $70,000 - $80,000 a year

ACP is now Australia’s largest plastic recycler with a 70,000 tons/year capacity, and can service 47% of the plastic recycling demand in Victoria.

Advanced Circular Polymers is currently looking for a dedicated Environmental Technical Officer to join their team.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Assess ocean plastic pollution in the coastal and marine environments and quantify it using literature and field visits
- Collect samples from marine and coastal fauna and flora to assess the impact of micro and macro plastics
- Plan and undertake experiments to study, measure and understand marine animals and plants
- Environmental monitoring to collect visual observations and survey marine and coastal animals affected by the ocean plastic crisis and identify their behaviour changes or impact due to the changes in their natural habitats
- Work with university researchers to prepare samples and evaluate microplastics in marine species, surrounding coastal environment and waterbodies using microscopic studies including SEM, FTIR or Ramen analysis
- Prepare laboratory and technical reports based on the literature, field visit, survey and laboratory finding
- Survey ocean plastics and debris to evaluate the quality and quantity and collection strategies such as floating nets, trapping nets, etc
- Work with the ACP engineering team, a research team at the University and plastic collection companies to develop an image dataset for marine and coastal plastic waste that is required to train an AI algorithm to identify and sort ocean plastics
- Develop marine and coastal waste management systems for the affected area while considering collection strategies, local resources, recycling methods and value-added products

**Skills & Experience**
- Relevant Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma qualification or the above.
- At least 2 years relevant experience. Experience of Environment, Marine Biology, Coastal Science, Laboratory Testing and data analysis is preferred.
- Ability to work as a team player and work unsupervised.
