We are seeking a motivated Property Assistant to join our Education Outdoors team at the beautiful MLC Banksia campus. In this casual role, you will be an essential part of the Maintenance team, supporting the upkeep and smooth running of the property, infrastructure, and equipment. This role is vital to the success of our outdoor education programs, and you’ll be responsible for ensuring that both the property and program logistics run efficiently.
Some of your primary duties and responsibilities will include the following:
- Performing a variety of maintenance tasks including upkeep of buildings, grounds, tracks, tools, and equipment.
- Completing minor corrective works, such as carpentry, painting, and general repairs.
- Supporting contractors with various maintenance projects, including plumbing, electrical, and grounds keeping.
- Operating machinery such as ride-on mowers, brush cutters, and chainsaws for grounds maintenance.
- Assisting with program logistics, including manual handling of materials and equipment, and transporting students and equipment as needed.
- Working closely with students as part of program-related activities and providing support during outdoor education sessions.
- Report and make recommendations on maintenance and occupational health and safety

About You
- Demonstrated experience in general property and machinery maintenance.
- Skilled in the use of a wide range of tools and equipment, including ride-on mowers, tractors, chainsaws, and powered hand tools.
- Experience in minor corrective works such as carpentry, painting, and general repairs.
- A current Victorian Driver’s Licence (MR licence preferred).
- A current Power Boat Marine Licence and experience operating power vessels in demanding conditions.
- Ability to work autonomously, be resourceful, and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with students and staff.
- A current Working with Children Check and Police Check are required for this role.
