**Position Information**:
Winmalee Public School has a school population of 355 students and 22 of these students identify as being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent. The school is situated in the Blue Mountains on Dharug and Gundungurra land. Winmalee Public has recently been named part of the Ambassador School Research Program due the highly effective teaching and learning practices that are embedded into all aspects of the school. The school has a strong focus on effective feedback and collaboration strategies between students, staff and the community. Underpinning these two focus areas is also a strong culture of high expectations for all, wellbeing through engagement in learning and extra-curricular activities. Improving whole school attendance and embedding Aboriginal Education and culture is also a priority for the current School Improvement Plan cycle.
The school has programs that build self-esteem, ensuring responsible behaviour and a strong sense of civic pride. At Winmalee Public School there are many programs and initiatives that are part of our school. These include: PSSA Sport and Winmalee Cup, Native Gardening Club, SRC, Junior and Senior Dance, Choir, Band, Strings and Recorder Groups, Premier's Reading Challenge, Public Speaking Competitions and Debating and a Movie Making Group There is a strong emphasis on high expectations and students engage with the curriculum through success criteria, learning intentions and by setting individual learning goals. The staff work collaboratively and productively with each other and the school community to ensure the best outcomes are achieved for each student. Wellbeing is a focus for all students, staff and the community and the school embeds the 'Smiling Minds Program' and works with the community hub to support families.
**Selection Criteria**:
- In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary, with demonstrated ability to effectively balance the dual roles of an exemplary teacher and the complex responsibilities of an Assistant Principal.
- Demonstrated ability to lead collaboratively, model and implement evidence-based and data-driven practices, with a focus on ensuring the continuous improvement of student outcomes in literacy and numeracy.
- Commitment and demonstrated capacity to support and strengthen partnerships with students, staff and parents to build respectful relationships between all members of the school and wider community.
- Demonstrated capacity to lead and support whole school wellbeing practices resulting in enhanced student engagement and a positive inclusive school culture for all students including those who identify as Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islanders and those that come from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds or have complex learning needs.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs- 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams- 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents- 5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning- 6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies**Conditions**:
This is a permanent part-time position for four days per week 0.8 FTE (Full-time equivalent).
