An exciting opportunity exists for an ongoing role as Assistant Parliamentary Counsel (Solicitor Level 3) with the Office of the Chief Parliamentary Counsel. Please be advised that there are multiple positions available.

An Assistant Parliamentary Counsel is responsible for assisting in the preparation of draft Bills and House Amendments, including receiving and settling drafting instructions on assigned drafting tasks. The successful applicant will also be required to undertake legal research to develop legislative proposals, to be a member of drafting team(s) on assigned drafting tasks across a wide area of law and to assist in drafting or settling proposed statutory rules.
The capacity to express legislation in clear and unambiguous terms consistent with the plain English policy of the Office of the Chief Parliamentary Counsel, good communication skills, an eye for detail and the ability and willingness to work as part of a team under pressure are also essential qualities.
