**About the Infrastructure Australia Commissioners**

Infrastructure Australia (IA) is an independent statutory body created to provide expert advice to the Australian Government on major infrastructure investments. Through passage of the _Infrastructure Australia Amendment (Independent Review) Act 2023_, the Government has re-established IA with a clearer mandate, refined functions and a stronger governance structure to strengthen its infrastructure planning and prioritisation advisory role.

IA will be led by a group of three Commissioners; one full-time Chief Commissioner and two part-time Commissioners. Collectively, the Commissioners will be the Accountable Authority for IA, replacing the previous board, and will be responsible for setting the strategic direction of the organisation in line with Ministerial direction, and having regard to the Government’s infrastructure policies. The Commissioners will also be responsible for ensuring the performance of IA and its functions, overseeing advice and policy development, intergovernmental coordination and stakeholder engagement. These positions will be critical in ensuring the expertise of IA advice, with the support of an Advisory Council, to be established, comprised of experts and senior public servants.

IA requires the collective Commissioners to have a broad range of skills and expertise, and individual Commissioners should bring a depth of understanding of issues relevant to IA’s functions. Commissioners are likely to be senior leaders or eminent individuals who hold expertise in fields of major infrastructure development, construction, financing and/or the public sector.

Additional information on IA and its reformed role can be found at the following links:
