**About the role**

**Mater Research** (MR) has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced **Program Manager** to join our leading Indigenous Health Research Group**.** This is a **12 month, maximum term contract with opportunities to extend into the future, fulltime **based at the South Brisbane campus.

This position is responsible for providing streamlined operational management, overseeing all business functions including finance; human resources; postgraduate student administration; resource management; workplace health and safety; and research administration including management of ethics and governance compliance.

This position will lead a small team of research professionals and provide streamlined support for the Indigenous Health Research Group at Mater Research Institute. Of primary importance will be capacity to develop effective working partnerships and relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and partner organisations.

**Salary: $87,674 - $95,892 (Research Professional Level 7) plus superannuation plus salary packaging**

**What you’ll be doing**

Reporting to the Reports to Principal Research Fellow - Indigenous Health Research Group, some of your key duties will include (but not limited to):

- Day to day operations management of the department
- Establish and manage the administrative operations of the Indigenous Health Research Group,
- Developing budgets and costings in close collaboration with researchers and partner investigators
- Establish and manage projects with community partners, ensuring ethical compliance for clinics projects
- Providing research reports in accordance with Institute, University and grantor policies
- Liaise with project coordinators, investigators, research students and University research administration to ensure all deliverables and milestones are achieved in a timely manner
- Develop and maintain a wide network of stakeholder relationships relevant to the research projects and operations of the Group
- Prepare operational protocols and manuals (e.g., policies and procedures manual, data management plans), reports and other documents, meeting agendas, minutes and correspondence
- Collaborate with relevant investigators, staff and students to develop and finalise dissemination of the Group’s work through preparation of communication materials (summary reports, evidence summaries, fact sheets, evidence briefs, audiovisual clips, etc.) and event management, for inclusion on websites and social media, as well as use by the research team.
- Ensure that the Group’s activities comply with Mater Research policies and procedures as well as legislative requirements, and relevant risks have been identified and managed
- Management and support of junior team members

**About you**

To be considered for this position, you will possess:

- Tertiary qualifications and work experience in health sciences or equivalent may be an advantage for this role but are not required
- Well-developed skills in project and team operations management, including managing budgets, HR support, and research ethics and governance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Well-developed knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and community-controlled health services
- Proven ability to problem-solve in a fast-paced environment and the ability to prioritise tasks
- An Ability to independently prepare correspondence and documents to a high, accurate standard
- An ability to work in a flexible and dynamic environment with competing priorities to meet deadlines
- Basic financial and budgeting skills (highly desirable)
