Be a key contributor of the critical thinking and decision making of the retail brand leadership team for Dan Murphy's.

This is a senior opportunity with accountability for supporting the strategic direction of the business.

**What you’ll do**
The role involves two key components:

- ** Brand Leadership Contribution** - This role is primarily accountable for being a dedicated, strategic and trusted voice for the retail brands, bringing a buying and Merchandise perspective to all strategic aspects of the retail brand. The purpose of this is to ensure Merchandise contributes to key strategic initiatives in the retail brands, in conjunction with championing the merchandise strategy. It is about being embedded in the executive decision making processes of all elements of the retail brand (Marketing, Operations, Trade Planning, eCommerce, Strategy, Transformation, renewals and new stores etc.) and bringing a Merchandise thought leadership perspective to those conversations.
- ** Brand Merchandise Lead** - The second is to be a single, decision making representative for the rest of the MM trading group in key forums where outcomes will have a direct, tangible impact on the various category strategies. This will involve working closely with the MM community to understand those category strategies, workshop impacts on those strategies from brand led initiatives or projects and take a position on behalf of the categories at an executive level.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Retail brand leader supporting the strategic direction of the brand with a Merchandise Lens, sitting on the leadership teams of Dan Murphy’s and Merchandise
- Embedding the merchandise strategy across the retail brand
- Merchandise lead supporting the strategic direction and initiatives of the category trading MM’s and the Merch Leadership team
- Ensure alignment of category strategies to customer shopping missions, local needs and overall commercial priorities
- End to End strategic accountability of the banner trade Plan - implementation & execution leading to key responsibility for the Banner P&L for Sales and Profit.
- eCommerce P&L through the trade plan and category strategic initiatives
- Ensuring our customer value proposition drives loyalty and positive customer outcomes delivered via an insight driven trade plan

Your background:

- Extensive experience (10 years) partnering with senior stakeholders to develop and deliver end to end change management activities, including strategy, planning, and implementation.
- Proven experience (7 years) coaching leaders and managers in change management principles, methodologies and tools.
- Tertiary qualifications, preferably in business management.
- Strong influencing, stakeholder relationship and communication skills.
- Acute business acumen and understanding of commercial fundamentals - particularly across business units and functions.
- You'll have an in depth understanding of retail, with buying and/or operational experience, including previous experience managing sales and GP outcomes.
- You have experience in sitting on a leadership team, representing the role of your function and that of the retail brand.
- Considerable experience in growing digital and ecommerce channels, with a detailed understanding of different levers of growth.
- A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of team and management.
- A well developed understanding of leveraging customer insights to derive a plan.
- Experience in Agile working desirable.
