Wenona is seeking a dynamic, passionate and experienced Assistant Coach - Swimming to join our team and inspire our young women. The sporting program at Wenona is a vibrant and central part of school life, characterised by high levels of student engagement and participation across the Independent Girls’ Schools’ Association (IGSA), Independent Primary School Heads of Australia (IPSHA) and community-based sporting organisation competitions.

Wenona aims to foster a love of sport through a focus on developing an appreciation of team spirit and pride, commitment, healthy and balanced lifestyles, and fair play in all sporting endeavours. **Key priorities**:

- Assist the Head Swim Coach in the development and sustainability of a high quality Aquatics program, including the planning and coaching of a variety of squads. The assistant coach will lead the junior competitive program and ensure a sustainable future for the Wenona Swimming program by supporting the transition of swimmers from LTS along the pathway to competitive squads.
- The role requires the provision of organisational support to the Wenona Learn to Swim, Swim Squad programs and additional activities held in the aquatic facilities as part of the collaborative coaching team.
- Assist in the IPSHA and IGSA planning and management of all Wenona School conducted swimming events and carnivals. Attend all school related swimming carnivals, championships and training sessions.
- Coach all Swim Squad levels from Mini squad to Senior competitive as required and attend all associated Wenona Swim Club (WSC) events as agreed with the Head Coach.
- Facilitate the delivery of the swimming curriculum in conjunction with the PDHPE department.
- There is an expectation that excellent, accurate, and timely correspondence and customer service will be provided to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- The position contributes to the administrative delivery of the Swimming Program and the maintenance of a positive internal culture where service, integrity, and humour are valued.

**Education and Experience**:

- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in Swimming coaching at community and pre-elite level including within an educational environment.
- High level knowledge of current trends and technology advancements in the sport of swimming and how it applies to pre-elite underage swimmers.
- Implementation of technical stroke correction and teaching proficiency within a structured swimming program from LTS to Competitive squads
- Development and implementation of a holistic swimming program with swimmers of variable age and level.
- ASCTA Membership; Minimum Development Coach accreditation as outlined by swimming Australia or equivalent.
- Elite level experience as a swimming competitor highly desirable.
- Fitness certification and experience highly desirable.
- Understanding of risk management, child protection and safe sporting practices.
- Sound administration and IT skills demonstrated across MS Office, website, online portal, database and competition software systems.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
- Demonstrated skill in forming effective working relationships and working with a range of groups and individuals.
- Ability to maintain personal control and quality standards when faced with long hours of work and changing demands.
- Valid driver’s licence and/or ability to travel independently between venues.
- Current NSW Working with Children Certificate.
- Current Senior First Aid, Pool Lifeguard and CPR certification.
