**About the role**:
As a Tech School STEM Communications Officer, you will have a critical role in developing and facilitating programs within the Banyule-Nillumbik or the Whittlesea Tech School. The key outcomes of your work will include promoting innovation, STEM concepts, science communication and science literacy for the young people of Northern Melbourne. You will work within a team to create and deliver events and programs within the Tech School.

You will also engage stakeholders and the public in both Tech Schools through innovative use of online channels, exhibition spaces and events. You will be a champion for innovation and STEM learning experiences building upon ideas and networks to ensure high quality engagements. If you have a passion for science, technology and innovation with commensurate professional experience, and importantly, a desire to inspire the next generation of innovators, this is the position for you.

This role is a fixed term contract due to government funding - Contract will initially be for 12mths with potential to extend.

**Duties**:

- Manage and maintain communication platforms on an ongoing basis, working closely with the Tech School Team.
- Collaborate in the development of Tech School learning programs to embed innovation, scientific literacy and enterprise skills for all.
- Participate in the planning and executing of Tech School events and activities.
- Work with secondary students and teachers to facilitate inquiry-based projects.
- Provide guidance on the presentation and exhibition of resources and artefacts online and within the Tech Schools.
- Promote STEM and innovation within Melbourne Polytechnic and the Tech School partnership.
- Develop programs and concepts through prototyping of concepts and content for delivery through modelling, text, digital and visual media, interactives and audio.

**Skills and experience required**:

- Relevant experience and qualifications in science communication, design, STEM education, science and technology related fields or similar.
- Demonstrated ability to confidently communicate scientific and technical concepts and collaborate with key stakeholders, including young people, teachers and community.
- Ability to work within a team environment under pressure in an extremely busy environment, prioritise tasks and work to tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated experience in the delivery and evaluation of formal or informal learning activities through the development of content, materials and exhibits
- Experience in using new technologies and materials in order to deliver STEM concepts to a diverse audience.
- Demonstrated highly developed digital, interpersonal, written and spoken communication skills.
