**About Aboriginal Health and Engagement**
The Aboriginal Health and Engagement is a multi-disciplinary team that has staff in Monash Health hospitals and the community, which aims to work closely with partner organisations such as Dandenong & District Aborigines Co-Operative Ltd and Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency. Staff within the hospital consist of Aboriginal Hospital Liaison Officers, Project Leads, and Nursing roles focusing on paediatrics and midwifery.
**About the Role - Consultant Paediatrician (0.3EFT)**
The role involves working closely with a multidisciplinary team, including paediatricians, a clinic coordinator, an administrator, a clinical psychologist, a speech pathologist, and an education liaison/teacher. The position requires sensitivity to the experiences of children who have faced abuse, neglect, or trauma and a commitment to ongoing professional development in culturally responsive care. The clinic operates from Monash Health Community Centres in Cranbourne and Springvale, with flexible administration days for meetings and patient follow-up. The role encompasses six days per month, structured as follows:
- Fortnightly Fridays: Based at Monash Health Community Centre, 140-154 Sladen Street, Cranbourne.
- One Tuesday per month: Located at Monash Health Community Springvale, 55 Buckingham Ave, Springvale.
- Three administration days per month: These days offer flexible locations and include participation in care team meetings, HKK triage meetings, and patient follow-up activities.
**About You**
**What You Need**:
- Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Appropriate health professional tertiary qualifications
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) with recognition as a Consultant Paediatrician
- Working with Children’s Certificate
- Current Paediatric Basic Life Support skills
- Technical skills/knowledge/experience
- Experience working with an Aboriginal community and an understanding of Aboriginal culture, kinship, and holistic care.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and the out-of-home-care system in Victoria would be advantageous.
- Familiarity with the clinical guidelines of Monash Children’s Hospital.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to provide appropriate clinical handover of patient care to community practitioners.
