The Opportunity
As the Payroll Manager at Auto & General, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely payroll processing for over 2,500 employees. Your strategic mindset, strong leadership, and expert knowledge of payroll legislation, processes and procedures will contribute to the seamless operation of payroll operations and assist with payroll related projects.
**Key Responsibilities**:
Support a team of six direct reports to ensure accurate and timely fortnightly payroll processing, as well as month end and year end activities;
Lead and mentor the payroll team in alignment with A&G's operational model, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure their continuous growth and high-performance;
Identify efficiencies through process optimisation, leveraging payroll software and automation opportunities that enhance accuracy and streamlines processes within the payroll function;
Prepare and participate in internal and external audits related to payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies; and
Stay abreast of current and changing payroll legislation, and industry best practices.
**Qualifications**:
Proven experience in payroll management, where you have overseen and managed all aspect of payroll operations within a large organisation;
Strong understanding of payroll regulations, Awards and Enterprise Agreements;
Demonstrated experience using payroll dedicated software - Aurion would be advantageous;
Involvement in payroll improvement activities, such as system upgrades or control improvements;
Leadership and team management experience;
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities; and
Problem-solving mindset with a continuous improvement orientation.
