**THE COLLEGE**
**Position**
- The College is seeking a suitably qualified Music Specialist Teacher with experience in primary music.
This is a part-time, permanent position (0.6 FTE, 3 days per week) commencing in 2025.
- In addition, we are seeking a suitably qualified Music Specialist Teacher with experience in secondary music for a 0.2 FTE fixed-term contract. This position will commence at the beginning of 2025 and run for 12 months to cover a period of leave.
- The Primary Music Teacher is appointed by the CEO and Executive Principal, reporting to the Head of Primary and is responsible to the Principal.
- All staff need to be supportive of the values, Christian ethos, and Ethical Statement of this Uniting Church Day school.
- It is expected that the successful applicant will have the capacity to teach in a range of Primary year levels. Involvement in the co-curricular program includes but may not be limited to playing piano at weekly assemblies and chapels and leading a primary choir.

**Duties and responsibilities**:
- The teacher is required to:_
- Perform conscientiously and competently the duties, both teaching and non-teaching, assigned by the Executive Principal.
- Perform such duties as are customarily rostered and shared by all staff, and such other duties as may be agreed upon by the Executive Principal and teacher.
- Co-operate with the senior staff in the organisation and management of the College and maintain such records as may be required by the College.
- Take part in professional development activities and other in-service courses provided by the College or recommended by the Executive Principal or delegate.
- Help foster good relations between parents, the community and the College.
- Be actively involved in supporting the College co-curricular activities and special events.
- Be positive in supporting of the College rules, tradition and Christian ethos, both within the College and outside.
- Actively contribute to a safety citizenship culture upholding health and safety policies, procedures, hazard reporting and safe work practices.
- The teacher is required to:_
- Plan and implement effective learning programs for music.
- Effectively monitor, assess and report on student performance.
- Report to families through various means including, Seesaw, Student led conferences, written reports and parent/Teacher interviews.
- Respond to the needs of individual students as required.
- Attend all meetings as designated by the Executive Principal, Principal or Head of Primary.
- Perform playground and bus duty and/or car duty on a regular basis.
- Manage student behaviour positively and maintain a healthy learning environment.
- Attend Parent-Teacher Interviews and Parent Information Evenings when required.
- Demonstrate a capacity for high standards in teaching and learning.
- Plan effectively for deep learning using the Australian Curriculum through a structured inquiry based approach.
- Be willing to work within/learn about the pedagogical framework of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years program.
- Effectively monitor, assess and report on student performance.
- Report to parents at interview and through written reports.
- Respond to the needs of individual students as required.
- Attend all meetings as designated by the Executive Principal, Head of College or Head of Primary.
- Notify appropriate staff as soon as possible regarding absence from duty. Work must be set for classes whenever possible.
- Supervise classes of absent teachers when required.
- Perform playground and bus duty and/or car duty on a regular basis.
- Seek permission for excursions from the Head of Primary and complete all necessary documentation.
- Mark the roll each morning and inform the appropriate staff of unexplained absentees.
- Make routine checks of uniform and personal appearance of students.
- Inspect homework for proper completion; make regular checks of Homework Diaries.
- Set realistic times and dates for completion of homework and assignments.
- Attend Parent-Teacher Interviews and Parent Information Evenings when required.
- Abide by the dress code as set down for staff at the College.
- Attend Chapel Services and Assemblies as required.
- Attend designated College functions.
**Supervisory responsibilities**
