The WHS Specialist is responsible for overseeing the Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) function, developing, implementing and maintaining the Integrated Management Systems and procedures relevant to workplace health and safety.

**Responsibilities**

WHS Management System:

- Develop, implement and maintain a WHS Management System and plans for the Penmaes Group and DT Construction WA.
- Audit and report on WHS management system performance against established WHS standards and objectives.
- Develop, implement and evaluate WHS policies, procedures and programs. Ensure they remain up to date and compliant with WHS laws, regulations, standards and codes of practice.
- Develop and maintain WHS documentation and resources (such as JHAs, risk assessments, SOPs, WHS reports and templates).
- Secure and maintain ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001.

WHS Operations
- Positively influence, mentor and advise leaders and the workforce on WHS practices and requirements under WHS legislation, regulations and codes of practice.
- Regularly review and audit safe work practices on site and WHS management practices.
- Conduct risk assessments, implement and monitor effective controls.
- Conduct toolbox talks and deliver safety inductions.
- Lead investigations into workplace incidents, accidents and near misses. Prepare detailed reports, develop effective corrective action plans and risk mitigation strategies.
- Oversee injury management protocols and facilitate return to work for employees following personal injury and/or illness.
- Oversee pre-employment medical assessments and fitness for work procedures.
- Design, develop and deliver WHS training programs to leadership and workers.
- Act as a point of contact for WHS related matters, develop positive relationships with various stakeholders including Site and Project Managers, regulatory and government bodies.
- Maintain an up to date knowledge of WHS legislation and changes in legislative requirements in the state of Western Australia.

**WHS Reporting & Administration**
- Collate WHS data, develop reports for leadership and provide insights into WHS trends to support informed decision making.
- Maintain accurate WHS records including training, workplace injuries, illnesses, near misses and incidents.
- Conduct regular reviews of internal systems, procedures and policies, to ensure they maintain relevance, effectiveness and compliance with WHS legislation, regulation and codes of practice.
- Oversee procurement of safety equipment including personal protective equipment.

**Position Requirements**

Skills and Experience:

- 3+ years demonstrated experience in a similar role.
- Experience in the building and construction industry highly regarded.
- Strong understanding and knowledge of WHS legislation, regulations and codes of practice.

Qualifications and Licences:

- Relevant bachelor degree in occupational health and safety (or commensurate experience).
- Valid driver’s licence.
- ICAM Lead Investigator Training highly regarded.

Other Requirements:

- Travel to client sites and within Western Australia as required.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
