**Role**:
At Dandenong High School, the holder of this position is a member of the Executive Leadership Team. The team consists of:

- Principal and 2 x Associate Principals

All members of the team are recognised within the school community as leaders of learning. They set the strategic intent and future direction of the school, ensure the effective operation of all areas within the school community in line with VRQA requirements and DET guidelines and actively work to build a culture of shared responsibility for whole school improvement.

While the Executive Team works collaboratively, each member has responsibility for a leadership portfolio, the scope of the portfolio reflects the priorities as outlined in the School Strategic Plan and Annual Implementation Plan.

General duties of an Associate Principal are:

- Provide leadership to the school in the ongoing implementation of the Strategic Plan, Annual Implementation Plan and the school’s Educational Vision
- Lead the implementation and embedding of department initiatives
- Lead the building of a culture based on shared responsibility for whole school improvement and focussed on student learning
- Assist the Principal in the leadership and management of the educational, administrative and financial operations of the school and be prepared, in the absence of the Principal, to assume the Principal’s role and responsibilities
- Facilitate leadership Professional Learning sessions for staff and school leadership

**Responsibilities**:
Specific duties of this role will include:

- Leading the development and implementation of contemporary curriculum and pedagogy, including Design for Learning
- a whole school evidence based, pedagogical approach to Teaching and Learning
- Leading the Professional Practice Program, which focuses on the development of teaching practice through coaching
- Leading the Learning Development Team and ensure high quality teaching and learning practice is consistently implemented in each Domain
- Leading the development and implementation of the Senior Studies and Pathways Improvement Strategy
- Lead the development of the school timetable and staff allotments, in collaboration with Domain Leaders and Timetabler
- Chair the School Council
- Governance committee, and oversee the effective implementation of DET and school policies
- Develop student leadership and agency in the school, through the Student Representative Council and Year 12 Student Leaders
