About the job

Do you have a passion for chemical analysis? We may have the opportunity for you We are seeking a dedicated Laboratory Analyst to join the Laboratory team on a full-time, permanent basis at our Pinjarra Refinery. The roster accounts for relief coverage in the Laboratory on both 12-hour day/night shifts, and 9-hour day shifts.

As a Laboratory Analyst you will be involved in the preparation and analysis of routine bauxite, oxalate, liquor and alumina samples to support our Pinjarra Refinery operations. You will make use of automated instrument systems to assist in your detailed laboratory analytical work. You will largely work unsupervised in a small, diverse technical team, reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor.

Duties and accountabilities are varied and range from:
- Sample, preparation and analysis using a variety of techniques- Data entry, verification and understanding the impact of results- Results management through Lab Data Management systems, as well as interpretation and communication of results with refinery process operations- Calibration, maintenance and housekeeping of laboratory equipment and facilities.- Assist in the training of laboratory personnel.

About you

To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:- Experience in analytical procedures such as GC, XRF, ICP, and general wet chemical analysis is considered advantageous.- Demonstrated knowledge of Lab Data Management systems, and a variety of laboratory analytical equipment.- A minimum Graduate Certificate in Laboratory Practices or have extensive experience working in a production laboratory environment.- Well-developed communication skills, an ability to work effectively as a team member, an excellent safety outlook and being flexible in working to the business needs are all desired qualities
