Fibre Splicer

Ventia seeks an experienced self-motivated Telstra Fibre Splicer / Technician to join our team. This role is to commence in mid-January 2023 working out of our Shailer Park premises.

**About the Role**
In this role you will engage in jointing / splicing activities and may supervise the work of less senior jointers / splicers. This is a fast-paced environment which also requires you to interact with customers and employees at several levels as you work across multiple contracts. You will also be required to work at night and travel away from home on a relatively regular basis.

Your duties will include are not limited to:

- Jointing and splicing activities
- Coaching of less experienced jointers / splicers to enhance their competency skills
- Fault location and restoration using OTDR testing equipment
- Report on critical delays that effect the delivery of projects
- Ensuring appropriate tools, safety equipment and materials are available and are in good clean working order to enable the timely completion of tasks
- Assist hauling and civil teams
- Complete workbooks
- Providing daily reporting through Novus and progress updates ensuring they are true and correct ensuring projects are completed in a timely manner
- Booking on CMARTs and completing daily mandatory safety paperwork
- Knowledge and understanding of construction drawings
- Scheduling work orders and materials when required
- Completing as builts and hand over packs on completion of projects

**About You**
To be considered for this role you will need to be an Australian citizen and have been fully vaccinated against Covid 19. It is also essential that you have the following skills and experience:

- Telstra Advanced Jointer / Splicer Accreditation
- Telstra Technician Skills including
- cut over knowledge
- OTDR experience
- confidence in completing Telstra Optic Fibre Workbooks
- familiar with rack and sub rack installations inside Telstra exchanges
- Working on Telstra wideband projects
- Confidence in splicing and handling large optic fibre cables daily
- Co ordinating day to day work activities, organising materials and building access
- ACMA licence endorsements
- Hold a current driver’s licence
- Construction Industry White Card

Desirable skills and experience include:

- Current Senior First Aid and CPR certificate
- Confined space ticket
- Basic copper knowledge
- Cable hauling experience
- Level 2 Traffic awareness certificate
- QLD Rail Inductions
- Telstra technician skills and knowledge of commissioning practices, transmission testing and DC power systems
- Working on other carrier networks
