**Georges River Council has an exciting opportunity for a Curator to join our Museum and Gallery, based in Hurstville.**
**About the Role**
As a Curator, you will contribute to the Hurstville Museum & Gallery vision by providing expertise in the research and development of a dynamic and customer focused exhibition and program schedule that reflects the history, heritage and culture of the St George region.
As part of our Hurstville Museum & Gallery, you will manage the coordination of the Museum & Gallery exhibition schedule. In this role you will develop, research, install, market and evaluate high quality travelling, temporary and permanent art and history exhibitions while creating opportunities for visitor engagement.

- Tertiary qualifications in Museum Studies / Art Curatorship and or related fields
- Current Working with Children Check
- Demonstrated experience as a social history and visual arts curator with expertise and experience in developing high quality exhibitions
- Demonstrated ability to undertake primary research and handle historical enquiries
- Demonstrated experience in managing a budget
- Experience in managing projects, and leading and motivating teams
- Proven ability to work to deadlines
- Highly developed oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, including effective negotiation, consultation and consensus building
- Experience in handling cultural and historical material and sensitivity when dealing with cultural issues
- Experience in the delivery and promotion of events
- Strong commitment to and proven ability to deliver a quality customer focused service
- Demonstrated ability to coach and guide others in developing and implementing innovative approaches
- Demonstrated commitment to EEO, WHS and the principles for a culturally diverse society
**Desirable**
- Current NSW Drivers Licence (Class C)
- Experience working with a multicultural client base
- Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification
- Ability to speak a relevant community language e.g., Arabic, Cantonese, Mandarin, Greek
