**About us**

Hornsby Shire is located on Sydney's upper north shore, approximately 25 kilometres north of the CBD. Known as the ‘Bushland Shire’, our local government area is characterised by bushland comprising national park, major waterways, natural reserves and rural landscape. The rest of the Shire combines urban, rural and open spaces.

**About the role**

Your new role is an operational position that relies heavily on teamwork and requires that work be prioritised according to customer need. Agreed deadlines must be met on a daily basis. The Home Library is a specialist outreach service for customers who are unable to visit the library because of incapacity or ill health.

Some duties of the position include;
- Ensure the provision of quality customer services
- Assist in delivering a positive customer experience
- Assist in the maintenance of the collection to ensure it meets community needs
- Provide assistance with the use and troubleshooting and maintenance of library software and equipment
- Promote library services and programs
- Assist in the review of Home Library Service delivery routes
- Perform preliminary assessment of possible clients for Home Library Service
- Advise Home Library Service clients of other community services available

**About you**

Your new role requires an enthusiastic, customer oriented person who has good communication skills. Current enrolment in an approved course in Library Studies is the minimum qualification for the position.

The ability to be an effective member of a team is critical to the success of this role as is accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.

The Home Library Assistant is based at Hornsby Library and will be required to deliver resources to customers in their home across the Shire using Council’s Home Library Van. A Class C Drivers licence and Working with Children Check is essential to the position.

The position also works regularly in the Customer Services Team and may be required to work at other Branch libraries.
