This is achieved through Sunday Worship Gathering and community support such as Manly Soup Kitchen, small groups, discipleship, pastoral care, chaplaincy and food pantry.
About the role
We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Ministry Assistant to support the Mission Leader to develop and facilitate ministry activities in an integrated setting at The Northside Manly Salvation Army Corps & Community Centre.
Reporting to the Mission Leader, this is a permanent part-time (24 hours per week) position based in Manly, NSW. Salary and conditions are in accordance with Hay Level 12.
You will successfully- Support the Mission Leader with planning programs and activities to meet local mission delivery goals.- Deliver the Christian gospel in a clear and compelling way to a diverse community with varying literacy levels and communication styles.- Make meaningful connections with community members and where appropriate engage in faith discussions.- Provide pastoral assistance and offer opportunities for prayer support.- Assist in coordinating community engagement programs such as FEAST (Community Meal once per month).- Supervise Community kitchen and dining room.- Monitor programs to ensure they operate within agreed budgets and desired outcomes.- Ensure volunteers are managed in line with TSA policy and procedures.- Undertake volunteer recruitment activities and manage volunteer onboarding tasks.- Collaborate with internal/ external stakeholders,to expand available resources and services to meet identified community needs.- Identify funding opportunities and manage partnerships to ensure viability and sustainability.- Assist in implementing the local Red Shield Appeal campaign for the area, and other fundraising activities.
You will have- Enrolled and be an active Solider of the Salvation Army (preferred ).- A current and valid NSW Working with Children Check.- A current NSW Drivers licence (if required).- A commitment to the Christian faith and mission of The Salvation Army.- The ability to offer pastoral assistance, to offer prayer and to explain the Christian Gospel.- Experience in a Ministry position (desirable).- Capacity to facilitate groups and one to one with a particular focus e.g. faith-based groups- Experience running programs and activities in a community setting.
