Temporary cover to commence from Monday, 27 March 2023 until Friday 21 April 2023. However, these dates may change due to the nature of the leave.

**Overview of the role**

The Library Technician is responsible for providing direct customer service to support the Wenona community in the delivery of library services and resources, including: information services, reader’s advisory services, reference services, technical support and promotional activities. The nature of the role requires the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.

**Key priorities**
- Is the first point of contact for student and staff in a library context, thus an approachable manner, professionalism and a positive attitude must be maintained.
- Undertakes library focused duties including all aspects of circulation and reference desk enquiries; shelving; ordering and processing of new resources; collection development; overdue processing, library orientations; report development; database management; Clickview management and management of subscriptions and memberships.
- Catalogues and processes resources including downloading SCIS records and original cataloguing.
- Requires the ability to work collaboratively across a small team.
- Assists with weeding of the collection as directed.
- Develops and delivers presentations to students focusing on effective research skills to locate quality information from print, electronic and online sources (including JSTOR and EBSCO).
- Gathers assessment sheets and develops an awareness of curriculum content, ensuring curriculum is reflected in collection.
- Understands and is able to communicate copyright issues as they relate to education.
- Demonstrates an interest and knowledge in current literature trends.
- Assists Teacher Librarians with preparing materials for lessons.
- Develops and present promotional programs, including displays, library talks and events.
- Demonstrates a sound understanding of current library and information trends and best practices.
- A willingness to undertake continuous professional development.
- A willingness to be rostered flexibly between 8.00am and 6pm
- Provides administrative and operational assistance (including relief for Reception, Junior School Office, Student Office and similar) across the School to meet functional requirements and uphold the reputation of Wenona.

**Education and Experience**
- Diploma of Library and Information Services and experience (minimum 2 years). Eligibility to ALIA (Library Technician)
- NSW Working with Children Check
- Experience using SCIS and Infiniti LMS or similar
- Experience using academic databases such as JSTOR, EBSCO, Cengage

**General conditions of the role**
- **Award**: Independent Schools NSW (Support and Operational Staff) Multi Enterprise Agreement 2017
- **Classification**: School Assistant (level determined on experience
- **Hours of work**: Temporary, Full-Time. 38 hours per week. Working hours will be 8am to 6pm depending on the needs of the School.
- **Reporting Line**: All positions report to the Principal.
- **The line manager for this position is**: Head of Library and Information Services
- **Professional Learning**: You will be expected to attend and contribute to all staff professional development days and requirements as outlined in the School’s calendar.
- **Parking**: There is no car parking provision for this role.

**Selection Criteria**
- Understanding of how to ensure exceptional customer service.
- Outstanding communication skills, verbal and written.
- Ability to plan and manage your own workload in order to achieve a specific goal.
- Previous experience of working within an environment where flexibility is required, whilst still meeting deadlines.
- Interest in technology in an education context.
- Understanding and obligations of child protection when working within a school.
