**Role details**:
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic cybersecurity professional who can hit the ground running. You will be working as part of a specialist Security Risk and Assurance team, and will be responsible for delivering key insights into the Departments security risk posture through threat, risk, and compliance assessments. This includes performing:

- Third Party Cyber Risk Assessments
- Security Exemption Assessments
- Essential 8 Control Assessments

Added to this you will also play a key role in uplifting various compliance controls, including NSW Cyber Security Policy, ACSC Essential 8, ISO 27001 and NIST CSF.

**Role and Responsibilities**:

- Conduct security risk assessments and security testing against the Departments critical systems (including risk assessing vendors).
- Conduct controls compliance testing against the Departments critical systems based on security frameworks including NSW Cyber Security Policy, ACSC Essential 8, ISO 27001 and NIST CSF.
- Establish and implement practices for the monitoring of information systems, processes and metrics to measure compliance against policy and standards.
- Perform regular security reviews and compliance testing to ensure adherence to adopted security standards
- Prepare and coordinate strategic advice, research, information and reports on diverse and complex policy, planning and operational matters to ensure the appropriate analysis of issues to support executive decision making.

A dynamic risk orientated cyber security specialist that encourages and drives a culture of technical excellence, co-operation and collaboration across all stakeholders by providing a high level of advice and leadership. You will be required to:

- Engage with stakeholders throughout the Department to understand their operating model and to assess their compliance against cyber security controls and requirements.
- Conduct vendor risk assessments by reviewing, interpreting and responding to detailed vendor responses to security requirement specifications to ensure alignment between vendor security controls and the Departments security requirements.
- Engage with technical SMEs to risk assess the Departments critical systems.
- Collaborate with all project, program, operational and vendor stakeholders to ensure that security risks are documented, acknowledged and appropriate remediation plans are developed.
- Assess new operational risks against current security and technology controls to determine risk rating and also work with the risk owner to ensure appropriate mitigation strategies are developed.
- Proven experience in providing security consulting to large and complex projects with the ability to engage with vendors and review vendor proposals.
- Proven experience in performing security reviews and compliance testing to ensure adherence to adopted security standards.
- Expertise in delivering Cyber Risk Assessments reports.
- Ability to develop, implement and maintain security risk management plans.
- Experience assessing and implementing security controls & risk standards (e.g. ISO 27001/2, ACSC E8, Cloud Security, ISO 31000, NIST-CSF etc).
