A rare and unique role is available for an Executive Treaty Coordinator to join DGS on a fixed term contract until 30th June 2027. **About us**

The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.

**About the role**

A rare and unique role is available for an Executive Treaty Coordinator to join DGS on a fixed term contract until 30th June 2027. Treaty is an opportunity for Victoria to recognise and celebrate the unique status, rights, cultures and histories of Aboriginal Victorians. It is also an opportunity to heal past wounds, achieve genuine reconciliation and build a stronger state for all Victorians.

The role will be key to mobilising negotiations and responsibility for leading department coordination and response to Statewide Treaty. This includes leading Department-wide approaches to Treaty-readiness, Treaty education and internal departmental communications.

**About you**

To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:

- **Experience in** **Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander policy**: Specialist expertise in or knowledge of the Victorian Treaty process including legislation, policy, agreements and frameworks, and demonstrated understanding of the Victorian Government's Aboriginal self-determination agenda and government decision-making mechanisms and processes, particularly whole-of-government mechanisms and Cabinet processes
- **Strategic Planning**: Guides others through the strategic planning process, creating a shared vision for the future. Has a comprehensive understanding of external and internal issues that influence the strategic direction of the organisation
- **Influence and Persuasion**: Develops long-term and multi-phased plans to influence others; Implements complex strategies to build buy-in from key internal and external clients/stakeholders; Effectively negotiates with clients/stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes
- **Stakeholder Management**: Excellent communication skills, that can be applied to the preparation of briefs, internal communications and engaging with external stakeholders, having a deep appreciation of the audience and can tailor communication to resolve issues and connect people.
- **Policy Skills**: Keeps up to date with a broad range of contemporary issues; Develops complex and far reaching business case proposals. Builds trusting relationships with Senior Leaders across the VPS to engender support for proposals. Provides thought leadership to others on area of expertise.
- **Promote inclusion**: Creates a culture that supports and respects the individuality of others and recognises the benefits of diverse ideas and approaches; Communicates well with, relates to and sees issues from the perspective of people from a diverse range of cultures and backgrounds
