**The Opportunity**

Exciting opportunity to provide specialist advice relating to financial accounting services, supervise a team, and business partner with the wider Council management teams.

**Key Responsibilities**

This role provides support to the Coordinator - Financial Accounting and Revenue in ensuring that the external financial reporting requirements of the Council are met. This includes assisting with the preparation of the audited Annual Financial Report, acquittals, returns, and daily cash flow requirements. You will also supervise the Finance Officers responsible for accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.

As part of partnering with one of the three Council directorates, you will be a key contact for financial information and providing advice to ensure accurate budgets and forecasts are maintained. You will also assist and contribute towards the development and preparation of key financial reports for the Council, including the Annual Budget, quarterly financial reports, as well as regular financial reporting to the Executive Leadership Team.

**About You**

To be successful in this role, you will have the following:

- Formal tertiary qualification in commerce, business, accounting, or a related discipline.
- Membership of Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA) or Australia Chartered Accountants (CA) Australia (desirable).
- Substantial knowledge of relevant Australian Accounting Standards.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Local Government legislation and regulations would be considered advantageous.
- Experience providing internal financial support, developing financial reports, and maintaining accounting systems in a government or large organization.
