**Cultivate effective, empathetic relationships, offer positive role models, and draw upon your own experiences to assist others in their journey towards mental health recovery.**
**The Role**
Peer Workers uphold lived experience values and principles, and work within a human rights framework. Peer Workers have the ability to utilise their own lived experience of mental health challenges and recovery in an appropriate and purposeful manner to bring hope and support the recovery of the people they work with.
**Intensive Crisis Support (ICS) (6 weeks) -** provision of flexible high intensity case management support. The key outcomes are reduced levels of distress/increased wellbeing via addressing immediate stressors and crises, and supported transition and exit with step-down provision and warm referrals to services as appropriate.
**What you need to bring**
**Essential**
- Certificate IV level qualification in Mental Health Peer Work.
- Lived experience of mental health challenges and recovery.
- Experience and expertise in working directly with people with mental health issues, complex needs, and with their families and carers.
- Proven ability to work autonomously and as a member of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritise to meet client service delivery requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in documenting client case notes and working with electronic data bases.
- Demonstrated understanding of available community services, networks and supports.
- Great interpersonal and listening skills to build strong relationships with key stakeholders.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Demonstrated experience working with the recovery framework and taking a trauma informed approach to practice.
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and de-escalate crises.
- Valid Department of Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check.
**Desirable**
- Degree in relevant Human Services discipline.
- Experience using Penelope electronic client management system.
**Special Conditions**
- Flexibility is essential in this role - some work outside of standard hours may be required.
