**About the organisation**
This newly created Department within Federal Government works to deliver and implement various policies and programs to assist economic growth. There are multiple positions available for EL1 Assistant Directors and also for an EL2 Director.

Responsibilities of the
**EL1 Assistant Directors** are across different teams and functions including program, policy and data analytics and may include:

- Undertake policy review for program and lead resolution of emerging policy issues
- Draft and input to policy documentation including but not limited to New Policy Proposals, requests for legal advice, communication documents, implementation action plans, budget plans
- Engage with other areas of the department and other government agencies to understand and reach agreement on key policy issues
- Identify key implementation tasks and manage staff and resources to implement in a timely fashion
- Ensure risks and sensitivities are identified and communicated to manager and executive as appropriate
- Prepare briefing material for Executive and Minister on program and policy issues, this includes parliamentary documentation such as QTBs and Senate Estimates
- Undertake analysis of ongoing program implementation to assist in policy refinement
- Delivering high quality work in collaboration with colleagues across the department and with other departments to gather accurate information about companies and their workers and provide clear information on evolving situations
- Working across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to understand challenges and identify solutions
- Connecting information and advice from a range of stakeholders to analyse the workplace landscape and develop collaborative policy solutions to address emerging and systemic challenges

Responsibilities of the
**EL2 Director** may include:

- Drive the work of a team to meet government objectives and build team capability in the context of workforce and labour market policy
- Develop and interpret policy in a specialised area of work that requires extensive understanding and consideration of highly sensitive organisational and political issues
- Develop policies and strategies aimed at achieving broad agency objectives
- Provide high level analysis of issues and make a significant contribution to the management, preparation and coordination of complex inputs to policy formulation
- Prepare, review and advise on policy reports, briefing papers, speeches, Ministerial correspondence, Cabinet submissions and discussion papers for presentation to senior staff
- Provide specialist and/or strategic policy advice to internal and external stakeholders, the Executive and the Minister on complex matters in area of specialisation
- Incorporate risk and implementation considerations into policy development
- Anticipate and assess the impact of changes in Government policy and initiate and contribute to appropriate responses
- Liaise, consult and negotiate with other Government, industry and community groups on a range of more complex policy issues
- Actively contribute to the development of the agency’s strategic policy initiatives
- Plan, implement, monitor and evaluate policy initiatives, including strategic policy development for the agency
- Facilitate and manage policy initiative changes including engagement with Cabinet processes
- Contribute to the strategic planning of agency wide objectives. Set strategic direction, develop long-term plans and implement operational strategies aimed at achieving specific agency objectives within a discipline or area of responsibility.
