We are currently creating a world-leading centre for innovation on-site at Macquarie University that represents a new era for hearing and vision loss. This nationally significant social infrastructure project will be a place to nurture, trial and share new ideas and form new partnerships that will drive better outcomes for people who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind or have low vision.

**The Role**

NextSense has an exciting opportunity for a **Head of Early Years **to join our **Education team** at **North Rocks**, soon to be relocated to **Macquarie University campus**.

This is a permanent, full-time role which reports directly to the **Head of Education Strategy**.

The Head of Early Years is responsible for supporting the Head of Education Strategy in the leadership and development of an innovative response to Education for Early Years programs at NextSense. Key to this role is the need to understand and respond to the needs of the field with an integrated model that achieves positive progress and change in the sector via:

- Collaboration and advocacy
- Incubation of best early childhood practices
- Delivery of exemplary services and programs

This role requires an experiences and capable leader with a proven ability to execute the delivery of change. You’ll make a difference in this role by:

- Collaborating with the Head of Education Strategy, colleagues internally and across the sector to develop and implement a vison for the future of inclusive early learning services for learners with sensory disabilities.
- Ensuring the delivery of quality educational programs for the children and families which support positive outcomes for each individual child, especially initiatives aimed at inclusive education of learners with sensory disabilities
- Providing leadership across the NSW service as well as the Victorian service, providing inspiration for the development of specialised programs to support students who are Deaf/hard of hearing or bind/low vision.
- Collaboratively leading research projects to inform best practice in early years education settings
- Being the Responsible Person at the Service, Macquarie site, and manage the day-to-day operations, ensuring practices align with NextSense policies.
- Building strong strategic partnerships with external agencies to support the translation of models of service delivery into other environments

**Key Selection Criteria**

To be successful in this role you'll need to demonstrate you meet the following selection criteria.
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related discipline and relevant experience in a similar role.
- 10+ years’ experience relevant to the role.
- Extensive leadership experience in managing a ECEC centre.
- Experience with specialist/inclusive early childhood teaching models
- Sound understanding of and commitment to The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia and The National Quality Framework.
- Ability to operate under broad direction with some overall autonomy and decision making.
- A current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- A current NSW driver’s licence.
- A Working With Children’s Check and a criminal record check.
