**Organisational context**
The Women’s Social Model of Health Division is a newly formed Division that reinforces the Women’s commitment to the social determinants of health. Whilst all services at the Women’s ensure health equity for all women, the Social Model of Health Division brings together our multidisciplinary services and programs that specialise in providing care to women facing challenges that may adversely affect their health.
**About Sexual Assault Crisis Line (SACL)**
SACL provides a state-wide after-hours telephone crisis service for victims/survivors of sexual assault in Victoria, providing immediate crisis care to victims/survivors of recent sexual assault, telephone crisis counselling support, advocacy, information and referral. SACL also provides support and information for family and friends, and secondary consultation and debriefing to CASA counsellors/advocates and other professionals..
**About the role**
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced manager to join the Social Model of Health Division and step into this newly created role. In this new role as SACL Manager will work closely with the coordinators to provide leadership, support and coordination to the counsellor advocates. You will ensure the provision of a high quality, evidence-based service to victim/survivors, and play a key role in working with stakeholders to develop effective and responsive models of care. You will report to the Sexual Assault Services Senior Manager and work closely with the CASA Manager to ensure both CASA and SACL are aligned in their service delivery. You will work collaboratively with the other managers in the Social Model of Health.
A regular day will see you:
- Lead and manage a team of permanent, fixed term and casual staff, providing leadership on current and best practice in crisis counselling and advocacy for victim/survivors of sexual assault
- Ensure the smooth day to day operation of SACL and the coordination of core service delivery, including overseeing the coordination of the SACL roster to ensure that all shifts are covered
- Undertake recruitment, orientation and performance management of staff, supporting your team members to set and reach achievable performance goals
**About you**
You will be someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain strong, collaborative working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. You’ll have the ability to work effectively within a team whilst maintaining leadership and accountability, and have fantastic negotiation and advocacy skills.
You’ll bring with you:
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Work or other relevant health profession
- Eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or other relevant professional body
- A minimum of 7 years’ post-graduate experience in Social Work, or a relevant discipline
- Demonstrated crisis counselling experience and extensive specialist knowledge and skills in supporting survivors of sexual assault and violence
- Previous experience of effective leadership in a complex environment, including responding to crisis situations and implementing change
- Demonstrated commitment to a women-centred approach to service provision, and knowledge of the impact of social factors on women’s health
- A commitment to working in a service that recognises the impacts of trauma and the social determinants of health
