The Juries Act 2000 provides for the operation and administration of a system of trial by jury that equitably spreads the obligation of jury service amongst the community and makes juries more representative of the community.
JV is looking for someone with energy and imagination, who approaches his/her work with passion and a focus on service excellence.
Reporting to the Juries Commissioner but working closely with the local Senior Registrar, the Jury Coordinator will be the local single point of contact for judges and their staff when jury trials are listed and proceeding. The Jury Coordinator is also the key link between circuit operations and JV's leadership team, supporting JV's planning and forecasting responsibilities for the respective jury district.
To be successful in this role, you can demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively with JV stakeholders, problem solve and provide excellent customer service in a dynamic operational environment.
You will have strong interpersonal skills and an ability to prioritise your work and provide confident and informed advice.
- The Juries Act 2000 provides for the operation and administration of a system of trial by jury that equitably spreads the obligation of jury service amongst the community; makes juries more representative of the community; and permits the timely adoption of new technologies for the selection of persons for jury service.
- Juries Victoria ensures a sufficient number of Victorian citizens are available to serve as jurors in criminal and civil trials.
- Juries Victoria strives to improve jury management processes to meet the needs of courts, while proactively supporting citizens through their jury journey.
- Duties involve answering phone and counter enquiries, providing information on jury service, attending court, communicating with court staff and other administrative tasks.
- To be successful in this role, you must be able to demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills. You will be enthusiastic and will not be afraid to present information to groups. You will also be organised, have excellent computer and data entry skills, and be able to work within a small team. Experience working in a professional office environment is highly regarded.
