**The Position**

**Position Title**: Diagnostic Cardiologist (Fractional Specialist)
**Classification**: HN18 - HN58 (Medical Specialist Years 1 - 9)
**Salary per hour (exc. super)**: Year 1 Specialist $158.85 to Year 9 $206.22
**Contracted Hours**: 31.5 hours per fortnight or 0.45 FTE
**Employment Status**: Permanent Part Time (ongoing)
**Other requirements**: COVID-19 vaccination plus Booster and Specialist Registration with Ahpra along with suitable college requirements

**Role Description**

This is an ongoing Imaging Cardiologist in Diagnostic Cardiology appointment creating an exciting opportunity for an experienced specialist to provide diagnostic cardiology services for a leading regional health service and provision of consultative services at regular outpatient clinics. Please refer to Position Description for duties.

There is potential scope for Cardiologists hours/FTE to be increased pending outcome of funding review.

**The Cardiology Team**

The Cardiology department is responsible for patients in several departments including inpatient wards, emergency department, ICU/CCU in addition to Cath Lab, Diagnostic Cardiology and Cardiology outpatient clinics. The Cardiology department is led by a Clinical Unit Head and managed by a Business Manager.

Diagnostic Cardiology department provides a range of cardiac diagnostic tests including:

- Exercise stress testing - a test to see how the heart responds to stress performed in a controlled environment
- Electrocardiogram (ECG) -a test that measures the electrical activity of the heart
- Ambulatory Electrocardiogram - records the electrical activity of the heart usually over 24 hours or seven days
- Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring - measures blood pressure at regular intervals over a period of time
- Pacemaker interrogation and programming - routine follow-up after a pacemaker is inserted.
- Referral to Diagnostic Cardiology is via GP.
