Satisfactory criminal history check, working with children check and a current driver’s licence
**About DANC**
Dundas Area Neighbourhood Centre is a small community organisation with a big heart. The Neighbourhood Centre office is based in Telopea, but also supports surrounding suburbs of Dundas, Dundas Valley, Rydalmere, Ermington and Melrose Park.
Our vision is a connected community that embraces diversity and collaboration. Our aim is to be a reliable hub of support within our community through the provision of quality services and activities that enable strength, inclusion, and respect, while reducing social and financial disadvantage and distress.
The centre’s main focus is on activities for children, youth, parents and carers, but there are also many activities for adults of all ages. The Neighbourhood Centre team provides a community support service offering assistance to residents in need. In addition to paid staff, the centre has many volunteers in a variety of roles.
The governing body of DANC is a volunteer Board whose members have a strong commitment to locally-based community services. DANC receives its main funding from the NSW Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ).

**Role Purpose**
The Community Development Worker plans and delivers high-quality practical and emotional support, guidance and services to children, youth and families within the local community.
**Key Responsibilities & Main Activities**

- Build trusted relationships with vulnerable young people, children and families, engaging with them in ways that will empower and improve wellbeing
- Develop, plan and implement indoor and outdoor programs for young people, children and families to meet funding body requirements
- Develop, plan and implement after school and holiday programs for school aged children.
- Support current programs for young people.
- Provide information, advice and referrals to members of the community who seek support through phone, online or in person at DANC
- Build connections and networks with local service providers and agencies, capitalizing on opportunities to collaborate
- Develop and facilitate information sessions and awareness programs to meet community needs
- Build positive relationships with children and young people to help them achieve positive outcomes
- Attend to data collection and reporting requirements
**Organisational Participation**
- Be active in team meetings, discussions and planning initiatives
- Actively participate in skills training
- Document weekly activities in accordance with current procedures
- Work in alignment with organisational values, contributing to a positive work culture
- Undertake other reasonable duties as directed
**Workplace Health & Safety**
- Take reasonable care of your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the company’s WHS policies and procedures
- Take reasonable care their actions or omissions do not adversely affect the health and safety of yourself and others
- Cooperate with any reasonable directions, policies and procedures relating to health and safety in the workplace
- Report all injuries, illness or ‘near misses’ to your manager
- Participate in relevant health and safety training based on roles and responsibilities

**Essential Selection Criteria**
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or relevant comparable experience
- Demonstrated skills in planning, developing and implementing activities for children, youth and families
