Lead, Land Access

Melbourne City Centre, Australia Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions Full time

The Team
The position of Lead, Land Access forms a part of the Trade and Investment Group and Invest Victoria Branch. This Group focusses on creating jobs and prosperity, by developing opportunities for Victorian businesses to expand internationally and by attracting investment into Victoria.
The Role
Helping the Victorian economy move toward net zero, the CarbonNet Project is a cutting-edge project, investigating the potential for establishing a large-scale, carbon capture and storage (CCS) network in Victoria's Gippsland region. CCS involves capturing CO2 released by industrial processes, compressing it and then transporting it to an injection site to be sequestered deep underground for safe, long-term storage in suitable geological formations - similar to the way oil and gas has been stored underground for millions of years.
As the Lead - Land Access, you will be responsible for building and nurturing relationships with stakeholders both internally and externally to drive land access outcomes for the CarbonNet project.
About You
This high-profile position requires a strategic, proactive, and responsible individual who has proven experience in liaising and interfacing with landowners and traditional owners to negotiate land access agreements. You will play a key role in assisting and facilitating negotiation and execution of licence, option, and easement agreements to secure land access. It will be critical for this role to also be able to navigate and engage with local, state and federal permitting authorities and assist with preparation of environmental impact assessment studies and reports to secure permits for required works for the project.
To be successful in this role, you will need strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, excellent program development delivery and communication skills, demonstrated people management and leadership skills along with a good understanding of the Victorian government policies involving land transactions and/or the provisions of the Victorian Pipelines Act 2005 related to lands. You will have demonstrated experience in the preparation and delivery of planning and environmental approvals for major linear infrastructure projects. You will act as a pivotal point of contact with internal and external stakeholders to ensure positive outcomes for the Gippsland communities.
Further Information
Applicants will be required to comply with the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Region's (department's) COVID-19 Vaccination requirements, as outlined in the department's COVID-19 Vaccination requirements policy and in line with the department's obligations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004, directions, policies or procedures, including but not limited to any requirement to provide evidence of vaccination status.

We respect and welcome people of all backgrounds, genders, sexualities, abilities, and cultures.
How to Apply
Applications close at midnight on 30 May 2023.
