**Responsibilities**:
OH&S (Occupational Health and safety)
- Establish & maintain familiarity with the DET OHS Management System and policies
- Completing various OHS related activities/work including
- OHS Rectifying any OHS issues identified.
- Conduct workplace inspections
- Updating of the OHS activities calendar
- Complete OHS induction of contractors & maintain the associated records
- Member of the OHS Management committee
- Be the asbestos co-ordinator for the School, & complete various Asbestos related activities/work including:

- Maintain the asbestos register & asbestos label register, and complete the quarterly asbestos inspections
- Maintain the & completing asbestos related inspections
- Maintain the asbestos records for the school, including for all asbestos removals
- OHS duties as required

Emergency Management
- Assist with the conduct of emergency management events (eg evacuations, lockdowns)

Tasks as directed by the Principal Team or Business Managers

Contractors & Service Providers
- Ensure all contractors are inducted, have WWCs, complete necessary paperwork and store these records
- Ensure that all contractors and service providers both use SAM4Schools and their maintain current records on the system (eg insurances WWC)
- Arrange and manage school based contractors and service providers to compete facilities maintenance work as required
- Ensure that the schools financial processes & procedures are followed payment of contractors, and that legal agreements are prepared and maintained where required
- Liaise and negotiate with contractors and service providers in respect to the cost and quality of services
- Liaise with Department and VSBA Contractors regarding school maintenance and construction projects.

Maintenance
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the schools core infrastructure, and ensure that it is maintained appropriately by contractors & service providers. This includes being familiar with the mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems of the College and to keep operational manuals current and arrange regular servicing and /or repairs of:

- Plumbing, stormwater & sewerage
- Electrical systems including switchboards, general power & lighting
- Fire systems such as hydrants/hoses, extinguishers, pumps
- Heating & air conditioning
- Ventilation
- Security including door furniture, locks & keys
- Identify requirements and be confident using a variety of tools to perform maintenance tasks and repairs around the school
- Develop and implement improvement plans and maintain maintenance schedules for buildings and infrastructure
- Co-ordinate the use and maintenance of school buildings and equipment
- General Maintenance of buildings and infrastructure including
- replace light globes,
- Basic maintenance of school plumbing, especially toilets such as repair leaking taps, replace tap fittings, clear blocked drains and toilets where appropriate,
- minor plastering and painting
- securing broken windows
- General carpentry and building work including assembly and installation of furniture, shelving and attach to walls
- Repairs to furniture (indoor and outdoor), cupboards and doors, including locks, door closers, hinges and window latches
- Check and maintain facilities equipment in working order and effect simple repairs where possible
- ,

Other
- Work cooperatively with a range of people within a school environment (staff, students and community members)
- Lead the setup & pack up of furniture for a variety of school events including exams, SACs, Parent events
- Maintain working knowledge of Work Safe and DET policies
- Assist with planning of cleaning program for the school, and liaise accordingly the with cleaning service provider & their staff
- Small amount of cleaning as required, notably to maintain operation of student toilets.
- Report and maintain a record of faulty equipment, damage and breakage. Ensure that broken and/ or damaged equipment and/or furniture is repaired or if appropriate disposed of (including appropriate Asset Registry paperwork)
- Liaise with Principal class team to collate furniture and maintenance requirements;
- Oversee the maintenance of the lockers of the College
