Austin Health is the major provider of tertiary health services, health professional education and research across 3 campuses in the northeast of Melbourne and state-wide. Austin Health is world-renowned for its research and specialist work in cancer, liver transplantation, spinal cord injuries, neurology, endocrinology, mental health and rehabilitation.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and enthusiastic medical practitioner to join our team as a **Rehabilitation Registrar** in the **Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre **(**commencing 7**th** August 2023**).

**Details of Department**

Royal Talbot (RTRC) is the rehabilitation campus of Austin Health, providing a unique and comprehensive combination of services on one site to patients with a wide range of needs. These include programs for people with spinal cord injury, acquired brain injury, amputations, orthopaedic conditions, neurological conditions, multi-trauma and general rehabilitation including post-op reconditioning.

This allows a broad exposure and culture with teaching in the major core areas of rehabilitation medicine.

We have 62 beds across 3 wards as well as ambulatory programmes and clinics

**Details of the position available and position requirements**

We have 1 registrar post in the Neurological/ABI & General Rehabilitation Unit available from 7/8/2023 to 4/2/2024.

Preference will be given to registered trainees in Rehabilitation Medicine (contact AFRM for details).

**To be successful in this role you must**:

- Demonstrate sound medical/surgical knowledge, an understanding of the biopsychosocial approach to patient management, excellent communication skills, the ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- The capacity to supervise and teach junior staff and students.
- Demonstrate rapport with patients and their carers, and developing leadership skills.
