The National Injury Manager will provide a national oversight and a strategic link across the organisation’s self-insurance function and return to work activities. The role is central to the management of Health and well-being programs and occupational hygiene requirements. The role will determine and implement appropriate plans, programs and strategies to support the Thales’ fitness for work policy. This includes pre-employment, current employment and post
- employment considerations.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Manage and co-ordinate the organisation’s Injury Management System, including rehabilitation requirements for work and non-work related injuries ensuring information and records relating to workers compensation, rehabilitation and fitness for work are kept appropriately.
- Align workers compensation, rehabilitation and fitness for work priorities incorporating specific business unit and site requirements.
- Provide support and assistance to all Thales sites for all injury and workers compensation claims matters
- Manage the rehabilitation requirements for work and non-work related injuries / illness and maintain compliance with workers compensation, rehabilitation and fitness for work legislation.
- Determine any specific workers compensation, rehabilitation and fitness for work risks and ensure they are assessed and appropriate controls are developed, implemented and maintained.
- Ensure workers compensation, rehabilitation and fitness for work providers and resources are in place and effective for pre-employment medicals, health surveillance, treating practitioners and first aid.
- Develop and maintain effective business relationships with both internal (e.g. Claims and Fitness for Work team, Human Resources, Legal, and Finance) and external (e.g. solicitors, Comcare, medical/Rehabilitation providers) stakeholders to ensure injury management goals are met.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of relevant legal, regulatory and company workers compensation, rehabilitation and fitness for work, ensuring management and staff are kept informed of any relevant changes
- Develop and implement key health promotion activities as well as manage and coordinate existing health and well-being programs including alcohol and other drugs program.
- Manage and coordinate health surveillance monitoring in compliance with occupational hygiene legislative requirements.
- Conduct trend analysis on key Injury Management indicators and formulate strategies to manage identified trends.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Demonstrable knowledge and extensive experience in the fields of Injury Management, Workers Compensation, Rehabilitation, Health Promotion and relevant legislation. Understanding of HSE is also desirable.
- Minimum of 3 years experience
- Management of activities and personnel across multiple sites within high risk business operations
- Experience with Self Insurance is highly desirable
- Appropriate degree/certificate in a Health related profession or relevant tertiary qualifications
- Practical knowledge of the production /construction / and/or manufacturing environment
- Practical knowledge of emergency procedures in a wide range of scenarios
- Current Occupational First Aid Qualifications.
- Extensive experience and demonstrated ability in communication, presentation, report writing, investigation and audit skills
- Sound computer skills in use of MS Office and claims management / health records databases. Knowledge of Figtree is desirable.
